The London Afternoon Tea Tour
What to Expect
Want to enjoy an Afternoon Tea — but want more than just sitting in a hotel dining room?
This is London’s most iconic tradition… reimagined as a walking experience.
Join us as we explore the streets and hidden gems of London’s West End and uncover how Afternoon Tea became one of Britain’s most cherished rituals. Along the way, you’ll enjoy the classic elements — a variety of teas, delicate finger sandwiches, handmade cakes, and scones with jam and clotted cream while learning about their history and the stories behind them.
This isn’t a formal, sit-down hotel tea service. It’s a fun guided interactive cultural experience with a local Londoner.
By the end, you won’t just know how to pronounce “scone” properly — you’ll understand the etiquette, the history, and the fascinating social traditions behind every bite.
Explore, taste, and experience Afternoon Tea like never before.

Is this tour right for your group?
- How much walking? Approximately 6km (about 3.7 miles) over 2.5 hours at a relaxed pace — think a comfortable stroll, not a hike. Flat terrain throughout the West End.
- Who typically joins? Couples, groups of friends, mums and daughters, and mixed-age families. The youngest guest we’ve had was 8; the oldest was 84. Both left happy.
- Dietary needs? We can accommodate most dietary requirements with advance notice. Just email us before booking — vegetarian, gluten-free and dairy-free alternatives are available at most stops.
- Group size? Maximum 8 guests. This means you get genuine conversation with your guide, not a headset and a flag.
- Visiting from the US? You’re in good company — most of our guests fly in from the States. The tour starts outside Covent Garden Underground station, about 15 minutes by Tube from most central London hotels.
- Can I book for a special occasion? Absolutely. Let us know if it’s a birthday, anniversary or milestone trip and we’ll make sure it feels like one.
